Apollo has one of the most remarkable journeys of all our residents — he was rescued from the war in Ukraine.

Found in difficult circumstances, he was adopted by soldiers on the front line who made him their emotional support companion. For a full year, Apollo stayed by their side, offering comfort, play, and unconditional love during the hardest times. He became a bright spot in their days, and they in his.

When the situation allowed, Apollo was brought to safety and eventually made his way to us at PAWS. We welcomed him with gentle care, knowing he’d already been through so much.

Apollo was a really big help before PAWS even opened. During the summer months, while all the cats were staying together at a cozy home to get used to each other and their new life, Apollo was a natural leader. Where some cats needed extra time to feel safe with the new people and surroundings, Apollo settled in quickly — full of confidence and curiosity.

As more cats joined one by one, protocol meant keeping the others separate for longer, but Apollo was usually the first cat new arrivals met. He approached each one with playful energy and surprisingly kind gentleness that helped them relax and feel at home. His welcoming spirit made the transition much easier for the early cats who joined PAWS ♡

Now at the cafe, Apollo brings that same wild, joyful energy. He plays with enthusiasm (sometimes a bit rough — fair warning!), but it’s all part of his big, loving personality. He’s a little crazy in the best way, always ready for a game or a chase. Spend time with him, and you’ll see his heart open up — the more you play, the more affection he gives back.

We’re so grateful Apollo found his way to PAWS — his resilience and warmth touch everyone who meets him ♡

If you spot him today, bring your play energy — he’s always up for a friend!
