Pepito holds a very special place at PAWS — he was our very first resident cat, joining us 8 months before we opened our doors.

His journey to us began with a loving family in Benidorm who cherished him deeply. Sadly, his owner developed a serious respiratory condition that made it impossible to keep Pepito at home. With no easy options left, the family made the heartbreaking decision to find him a new place where he could thrive. His owner’s wife was especially devastated — Pepito had been her constant companion, bringing comfort and joy every day. Letting him go was incredibly hard, but they wanted the very best for him.

When Pepito arrived in April 2024, he stayed with us at a cozy home (along with the other early PAWS cats) while we prepared the cafe. This gave him time to slowly get to know his new feline friends in a calm, familiar environment — no big empty space to overwhelm him. At first, he was understandably a little unsure, exploring cautiously and keeping to safe spots. We gave him plenty of gentle attention, his favorite treats, and all the time he needed to adjust. Little by little, his confidence grew — first a curious sniff, then a head bump, and soon those signature loud purrs we all love.

Now, Pepito is the undisputed “boss” of PAWS. A bit grumpy when things don’t go his way (in the most endearing way), he has all the charm of a lovable old soul in a young cat’s body.

You’ll spot Pepito in his favorite high places, passed out in sunny spots or deep in sleep. As the founding cat at PAWS, he’s the chill boss — a little grumpy when disturbed, but full of quiet charm. He chooses his moments for affection, and they’re always special ♡

We’re so grateful to his original family for trusting us with Pepito — their love gave him the perfect start, and we’re honored to continue his story here at PAWS.
